flip-flopping

The real problem with the debate is that Kerry is not a flip-flopper. He is a political opportunist but who cares? What Senator isn't to some degree. What is really troubling is that he does have sincere convictions. The global test he talked about in the debate is the real Kerry. Indeed, there is a core set of convictions that guides his voting record: appeasement. How else to explain his love for multilateralism on all occassions except for the case of North Korea? The Bush campaign makes a real mistake when they focus on vacilation. The really frightening thing about Kerry is his consistency. Of course, the Bush campaign doesn't like to take on someone's ideas directly; that would require too much abstract thought on W's part.
