Obama is the Presidential analogue to the David Souter nomination: a candidate that wins because he has nothing to provide the basis of an attack. Souter had written virtually nothing other than narrowly drafted opinions, his scholarly accomplishments being virtually nil. Obama has an equally thin written record, though in his case it is as much because he is allowed to get away with not producing it or talking about it as much as not having it.
